At the first Expert Luncheon on Solar Energy at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, TX, Michael Harre, the CSO and Managing Director of Schott Solar, spoke to an audience of more than 65 solar energy professionals. The theme of this luncheon was “Schott Solar: A German American Success Story” and its purpose was to promote solar energy in the U.S. Mr. Harre began his presentation with an overview of Schott Solar and the company’s progress over the last 50 years. He also spoke about the continued importance of solar energy and its high potential compared to other renewable energy sources such as biomass, wind, geothermal, and hydro.
Mr. Harre concluded his presentation by reporting about Schott Solar’s strategy in the U.S., the importance of a true US strategy and not a copy of a German strategy, and the company’s “German Engineered, American Made” philosophy. A Question & Answer session followed Mr. Harre’s presentation and allowed participants to gain further insights on Schott Solar and the solar market in the U.S. and worldwide.
This luncheon was sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) as part of the Renewable Energies Export Initiative. It was organized by the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern US, Inc., Texas office in cooperation with the Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Solar Energy Society.
